Surface Mount PCB Assembly
MRP Electronics are specialists in surface mount PCB assembly.
We are continuously investing in state of the art Surface Mount Assembly equipment and are now leaders in our field offering an extensive range of Philips and MIMOT pick and place machines. Currently we have eight machines configured in four lines, which enables us to cope efficiently with a wide range of requirements. Whether they are high volume or low volume, simple or complex we will have the right combination of equipment.
Featured below are two of our four lines.
To the right is our high-speed line based around Assembléon's AX5 placement system, configured in line with a GEM Emerald (which handles the odd forms). Since installation the line has been upgraded with additional robot heads, board loaders and un-loaders this along with investment in extra feeders and feeder trolleys has resulted in a dramatic increase in both SMT capacity and flexibility. This line now regularly achieves a run rate of over 40,000 placements per hour and the extra feeders and trolleys enable off line set ups for the majority of PCBs manufactured - not only does this reduce the actual machine time required to manufacture a batch of PCBs but change over from one job to the next can be reduced dramatically. An additional benefit of the AX is its placement accuracy.
Specified to place 01005's; the AX has enabled MRP to manufacture increasingly more complex PCBs. Pictured right is an example of 01005 SMDs placed between the legs of a 208 pin QFP. It is now routine for MRP to manufacture PCBs up to 20 layers with over 3500 SMD placements including 45 BGAs on a single board. The placement accuracy of the AX has also proved invaluable when manufacturing lead free PCBs as lead free alloys don't flow as well as leaded paste which means components don't self align during reflow.
MRP have a very close link with Assembléon and were the first CEM in the UK to install this equipment. Please view the following PDF File for further details of AX inlcuding placements of 01005 SMDs.
To the right is our Mimot Advantage III, this particular model has a huge capacity of over 300 intelligent feeders and complements our Philips machines, offering us the flexibility to cope efficiently with a wide range of batch sizes and complexity of PCBs. The intelligent feeder system enables us to utilise common set ups for PCBs and have the ability to set up smaller jobs whilst the machine is still running, thus minimising change over. This line is primarily used for customers with sets of PCBs which benefit from common set ups. This line is also a popular choice for manufacturing prototypes.
